City Of Barrie Battling A Bane of Spring: Potholes

Spring has arrived, and city crews are busy filling potholes. Potholes usually occur in the spring when frost develops and snow is melting, and typically develop on the side of the road. So far this year, crews have filled just over 3600 potholes, and hundreds more are getting filled every day.
“The start of warmer weather also means pothole season has begun,” said Mayor Alex Nuttall. “When snow begins to melt, potholes become a major nuisance throughout the city. As we head into warmer weather, our City crews will be out each day filling potholes to make your drive a little smoother. We are working to make it easier to move around the city by updating and improving infrastructure and fixing more roads that need attention.”
The City maintains approximately 1370 lane kilometres of road, and crews regularly patrol streets to identify potholes and other road deficiencies, but potholes can develop daily when temperatures begin to hover around zero degrees.
Pothole complaints are addressed on a priority and scheduling basis. To report a pothole, please provide location details via one of the following channels:
