Sponsorship
The Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative (CPMHC) is holding its second annual national fundraiser walkathon – Flora’s Walk for Perinatal Mental Health – coinciding with World Maternal Mental Health Week. The walk is named after Flora Babakhani, a Canadian mom who tragically lost her life to untreated postpartum psychosis on January 14th, 2022.
Moms, babies, family & friends are all invited to join for a stroller walk to discuss, promote and support perinatal mental health. Read more about Flora at: https://cpmhc.ca/floras-story/ Please accept our invitation to be part of Flora’s Walk in Barrie to raise awareness for the need to improve services for moms and families.
By sponsoring a walk in your city, you will be providing funds to help cover the cost of organizing the walk as well as add to the funds being raised to improve local services. You will receive a sponsorship acknowledgement letter to submit with your business taxes – write off the sponsorship as a business expense (CRA approved).
** We are looking for local corporate sponsors in these five categories: ***
$250 Pewter Level Sponsor (Logo on website)
$500 Bronze Level Sponsor (Logo on website/shared on social media)
$1000 Silver Level Sponsor (Logo on website/shared on social media/printed materials)
$2500 Gold Level Sponsor (Logo on website/shared on social media/printed materials, business recognized at event)
$5000 Titanium Level Sponsor (Logo on website/shared on social media/printed materials, business recognized at event + LIVE speaker at event)
Where the money raised will go: 75% of the funds raised will go towards CPMHCs new strategic plan that prioritizes the development of nationwide provincial/territorial advocacy chapters. With the government currently working with CPMHC to prioritize perinatal mental health, we need to take advantage and advocate from the ground up and the top down = stronger impact.
25% of the funds raised will go into our new ‘COMMUNITY POT’ that will support new/existing community-based initiatives and training scholarships for our Walk Leaders who support families within the perinatal period.
Why should you sponsor our walk? The Facts:
Perinatal refers to the time period from conception to one year postpartum.
Some of the consequences of untreated perinatal mental illness include: Chronic depression; impaired parental-infant attachment; impaired cognitive/psychosocial development for the child; and maternal suicide or infanticide.
The health and wellbeing of mothers and families impacts every community in Canada.
Unlike the UK, Australia, and the US, Canada does not have a National Perinatal Mental Health Strategy. A National Perinatal Mental Health Strategy created in consultation with Canadians and provincial and territorial governments would ensure women, men, and birthing people receive treatment in a timely manner.
Suicide is the 4th leading case of maternal death in Canada with one in every 19 maternal deaths in Ontario attributable to suicide.
