Kempenfelt Bay will be a paddler’s paradise on Saturday as the Dragon Boat Festival returns to Barrie after a two-year absence because of the pandemic.
The festival is organized by the Barrie Public Library and has raised more than $2 million over the past 17 years for the library and local charities.
In fact, Chris Vanderkruys, the library’s director of business and development, says the festival has helped the library raise needed funds to branch out to its Painswick location in south Barrie and most recently the opening of a smaller facility in the Holly neighbourhood.
