Denim and Diamonds is the theme for this weekend’s Tender Hearts Gala.
On April 25, the main fundraiser for Barrie’s Season Centre for Grieving Children will host a fun night of food, entertainment and auction prizes.
One of the top prizes includes an all-expense paid trip to Houston.
Development Director Lisa Spinks says this year’s theme is a hit with supporters.
“Wear denim, wear diamonds, anything goes for this one, so it’s not your typical gala. You can be as casual as you want, or you can really bling it up. Plus, everyone has a pair of jeans.”
The annual fundraiser is the center’s biggest event of the year, with all proceeds going back to the cause.
Spinks explains, “Children are often the forgotten mourners when a loved one dies. And we know they need support because they feel isolated in their grief.”
She says, “Statistically, one in 14 children will experience a death of a loved one by the time they turn 18, so we offer peer support programs so they know they’re not alone and can connect with other kids who have gone through something similar.”
Spinks says if people can’t make it, they can still participate in the online auction to get great prizes.
The auction is up and running now at grievingchildren.com/gala/
