Summer Positions for Students at Camphill Communities (Closes May 31)

For those of you with children who are students returning to school, here are two great summer job possibilities:

To be eligible for this position, as per The Summer Jobs Program, you must be:
 15 to 30 years old
 Returning to full time studies in September 2016
 Eligible to work in Ontario

Camphill Communities has grants for four student positions this summer.

2 positions are outdoor gardening positions.

2 positions are to work in their retail store in Barrie.

Summer Student Position – Garden Assistant

The summer student will be an assistant as part of the Garden Team. Under the guidance and direction of the Garden Works Team Leader, the Assistant will provide support with planting, weeding, harvesting, and other market garden activities required to maintain the garden as needed. This position provides an interested student with an opportunity to learn skills related to market gardening, animal care, and work in a peaceful, rural environment working alongside friendly gardeners/farmers.

This position is outdoors working alongside individuals with developmental disabilities.
Requirements:
 Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
 An interest in sustainable agriculture and market gardening
 Previous experience and/or education in agriculture, environmental sustainability, or gardening would be an asset but is not required
 Good plant knowledge an asset
 Ability to identify weeds an asset
 Able to lift 50lbs
 Safety conscious
 Able to communicate well, and work well with others
 Positive attitude and willingness to learn and work with individuals with developmental disabilities
 Current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen within the last 6 months
Rate of pay: $11.25 per hour
Terms: 14 weeks, 37.5 hours a week

Summer Student Position – Retail Assistant
The Summer Student will be an Assistant as part of the Retail Store Team. Under the guidance and direction of the Store Manager, the Assistant will provide support with customer service, inventory management, stocking shelves, processing sales, advising customers by providing information on Camphill and the products, and providing support to the Team as needed to run the Store effectively together. This position provides an interested student with an opportunity to learn skills related to retail management. This position works alongside individuals with developmental disabilities.

 Works cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment;
 Has initiative and self-motivation
 Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
 Has planning skills, flexibility
 Is dependable and reliable
 Able to work with a positive attitude in a retail/customer oriented environment
 Previous experience and/or education in retail management would be an asset but is not required
 Positive attitude and willingness to learn and work with individuals with developmental disabilities
 Current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen within the last 6 months
Rate of pay: $11.25 per hour
Terms: 14 weeks, 35 hours a week
